How We Started
Beginning in 2006, we were founded by a small group of likeminded construction companies in the Greater Nottingham area. They decided to give the construction industry their full support, focusing attention on general skills shortages that plagued the industry and promoting construction as a career of choice to schools and colleges.
AFC are a Company Limited by Guarantee, we have a Board of Directors who are elected by the members from the Management Team every year at our AGM Meeting which is held in December.
We are funded by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) who are funded by a Government levy on the construction industry.

What We Offer Our Members:
- A wide range of quality open & bespoke training courses at reduced prices from vetted local providers and ATO’s who will handle your direct claims for you.
- Advice and support with claiming CITB grants, including the preparation of training plans and updates on any grant scheme changes. Including writing your Skills & Training Applications and project completion reports
- Regular updates on any changes that are relevant to our industry.
- A direct link between local education and employer apprenticeship opportunities, as well as promoting construction as a career in schools and working with employers to offer students some hands-on work experience.
